GENERAL QUESTIONS
Question:
I am trying to replace an
old heater -- made by
Little Giant. The main concern I have is that the old dimensions from inlet ~
outlet (center-to center) on mine is 25 1/2 inches. I noticed the specs
on the web. How much trouble will it be:
1. to hard pipe to
another size 2. Will some flexible -- hose be suitable 3.will deflecting
the water flow -- effect the operation / warranty./ heating efficiency
of the pump. 4. is there some other alternative ? Do I need to provide
sales tax exempt certificate?
Answer:
Good Evening,
Thanks for emailing us here
at Calvary Supply. Little-Giant brand heaters can be modified to your 25
1/2 inch inlet-outlet gap. Let me try to first answer your main
questions as best as I can. First, it shouldn't be difficult to change
the hard pipe to another size. For example,
if you’re looking at our 11.5KW heater kit, you'll notice that the size
is 1 inch. If you have a fitting that is 1 1/2 inch, then you could
apply a special adapter found at a local plumbing supply store to
achieve a new size. Second, if you choose to use flexible pipe to help
fit your heater, then we ask that it be rated for both cold and hot
water temperatures, we have had churches in the past do this with great
success. I'm not sure what you mean by deflecting the water flow in the
baptistry. If you’re referring to removing the water pump on the heater,
then yes it would void the warranty on the unit. The 1/40 h.p. pump is
designed to keep water circulating in the tank to keep the heater
element from overheating the water. One alternative to circulating
heater would be an
Immersion heater, a unit that is placed in the baptistry, which does
not have a pump. Once heated to the desired temperature, the unit is
unplugged and removed form the tank.
TAX EXEMPTIONS
You do not need to provide
tax exempt status unless you are in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in
which case you need to provide us with the
tax exemption form or pay
the 5% sales tax. Just fill it out and fax it to us at 800-383-5923.
I hope that answers your
questions Darrel. If you have any other questions, please feel free to
contact us and me or any of my staff would be more than happy to help
answer any questions that you may have.
Thanks and God Bless~

6KW Heater
This circulating baptistry
heater is designed to be placed directly on the baptistry and has a
water inlet and water outlet. This unit use 6KW, or 6,000 watts of
power. The 6KW heater kit is complete with a 1/40th h.p. pump,
circulation water heater, adjustable thermostat, and a installation
kit?. Below are some general questions and answers about the 6kw heater kit. For
complete technical information on the 6kw heater kit please visit our
6KW Heater Kit page
Question:
I just installed your 6KW heater with
Little Giant pump and install kit. Everything works fine but pump motor
seems to run too hot ..135
to 145F.
Pump seems to be moving water good. Pump base is not hot. Is this
normal? What do I need to do to remedy this heat problem? Water temp is
set at #7=77F
and temperature of water is checking at 79F.
Please respond as soon as possible. Thanks and God Bless...
Answer:
Good Morning,
What you describe is a
normal operation for the heater and pump. Please make sure that your
wiring is correct and that you have a ground fault interrupter as added
protection for you heater. Should the pump heater over 155°F, then you
should examine all parts for possible defects, this may be a sign of
faulty wiring. This is also covered under our 1 yr warranty should the
pump go bad during water pumping operations. You should also note that
the degree variance is +\- 4°° degrees. Please let me know if you have any
other questions.
Thanks and God Bless~

General Help Desk
Welcome to the General Help
Desk. We will often post questions about baptistry heaters for the general public to
view.
Question:
Thank you for the
ministry that you serve and for keeping your cost low. My question is
this, we would like to keep our baptistry filled for a month at a time
but are concerned about the cleanliness of the water if it sits that
long. Would it harm the heating unit if we were to put a little bleach
or chlorine in the water to help in keeping it clean or is
there another method to use. Thank you for your time and help in this
matter.
Answer:
Putting Chlorine or bleach
in the baptistry may harm a circulation baptistry heater, so you may want to
consider a water skimmer / filter system and ozonator or switch to the
immersion heater which would be easier to clean. Chlorine bleach can
break down chemicals in water causing them to adhere like barnacles to
the heating element and cause eventual failure. In addition,
keeping the water in a fiberglass baptistry can damage the finish unless
you have a special type sealer applied during manufacturing. Baptistry
manufacturers offer this special finish for an additional cost.
If you are still concerned
about the water, you can try a light bromine solution, but do not run
the heater for a few days after treatment to allow it to dissipate.
